Schools and teachers

When a school and a story meet

A note for teachers and schools about using stories to make space for conversation and curiosity.

A story can give a classroom a shared place to begin. Before anyone has the perfect answer, everyone can look closely, listen carefully, and wonder together.

Teachers might invite children to draw a moment from the story, retell it from another point of view, or connect it to something they have seen in their own community. These simple invitations help reading become active and social.

There is no single right way to respond to a story. One child may notice a character, another may notice a colour, and another may ask the question that changes the whole conversation.

That is the joy of bringing books into a school: a story becomes a meeting place for many different imaginations.

A note is always welcome

Every conversation starts
with a little hello.
